PADDY McCourt feels his "friendly rivalry" with Celtic and Northern Ireland team-mate Niall McGinn can help both of them flourish for club and country. McCourt replaced McGinn as a second-half substitute during Northern Ireland's 1-0 friendly defeat by Serbia on Saturday. Those roles were reversed in Celtic's recent 3-0 win over Kilmarnock as the pair vie for a place in Tony Mowbray's midfield.

Wolves boss Mick McCarthy is being linked with a £1.5m switch for Celtic winger Niall McGinn when the transfer window opens. According to reports in the Irish press the former Derry City winger is high on McCarthy's shopping list as he looks to strengthen his side in the New Year. McGinn only joined Celtic for £200,000 but has made a good impression after making his debut this season for both the Bhoys and the Northern Ireland side. WHEN Niall McGinn signed for Celtic last January, it is fair to say his capture failed to set pulses racing among the Parkhead's club's notoriously hard-to-please supporters.
